Together

I have holes in my clothes
My shoes have no souls
My hair is a mess, it's true!
My teeth are a fright
I snore at night
But baby! I’ve got you!
Now more than ever, we need one another.
Regardless of our appearance, gender, socioeconomic status, nationality, sexual preference, religious practices and region of the world in which we hail, it appears as if we are all in this together. “This” being the nondiscriminatory pandemic. "Coronavirus” has single-handedly isolated us, frustrated and frightened us, and made us question how in this time of great technological and medical advancements, we could have ended up in this situation. Confusion abounds, correct information is scarce and the journey ahead of us is unknown.
It’s as though we are all in a canoe with separate oars rowing in different directions much like the children’s story, “Up The Creek” by Nicholas Oldland and summarized by the description for purchase on www.amazon.com.
“There once was a bear, a moose and a beaver who were the best of friends, though they often disagreed. So when the three friends go canoeing together one sunny day, it doesn't take long for them to start quarreling with one another. First, they can't decide who should get to steer the canoe. Later, they debate how best to get across a beaver dam that blocks their way. But when they can't agree on the proper course for maneuvering through the white-water rapids they suddenly find themselves in, the consequences become truly perilous. It takes a long, uncomfortable night spent stranded on a rock to remind the bear, the moose, and the beaver what they often forget; everything turns out better when they work together as a team.”
Like the bear, the moose, and the beaver on their trepidacious trip, my hope is that with a bit of guidance, less debating, more teamwork, continued support and encouragement of one another (albeit from our individual homes), we will navigate our canoe through the rough white-capped rapids...TOGETHER!
